That Time My Ex Turned into a Cat (Ava Storm 1)

I am new to the cozy mystery genre, and although I have not read more than 6 cozy’s I am really getting into it. I love ones with cats and this story was no different. The special thing about this book is not only the story (I love the idea of a cheating husband being turned into a cat) but the fact that this author used a location that I lived in from birth to age 20. I was born in Los Angeles and was familar with the streets she used (in fact I lived two blocks from Santa Monica Blvd and as a kid I used to go to the beach in Santa Monica). My absolute favorite part is when she used the MBTI personality definitions to describe two of her characters. I was really hoping that there was an INFP (which is mine) in there, but there wasn’t (maybe another time?). I love the way the protagonist kept telling everyone that the cat (her ex) is not her familiar, but I suspect that next book that may change. I love the fantasy part of this book also, as I mentioned I am new to the genre so I don’t know if a lot of authors use mystical creatures besides witches in their stories, but as someone who also loves paranormal and horror books, this story was perfect for me.
